76- 25hp evinrude; need help bad

I just bought this motor this summer and only had it out one time on the lake and it gave fit just not wanting to run and it seemed that it was not running on both cylinders. So i checked the spark and the upper coil had no spark, so i installed a new one and still no spark.

The motor will run and idle just fine for about 3.5 min and then die and it wont start again. and as i was messing with it i saw some milky white fluid coming form the frot of the carb. The i drained card and it was just flowing out every time i pumped the fuel bulb.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated..... All the ducks are getting away........

You must have spark to both cylinders for the engine to run properly. A white frothy fuel sounds like water contamination.

If you have fuel flowing from the front of the carb. you probably have a bad float or the needle valve is not seating correctly, sounds like you need to rebuild the carb. as suggested it does sound like you have water in your gas! can you post the model number of the engine?

the model# 25602E and the ser # E0007850, I just went out and took the cover off and cranked it and didnt see any stray sparks, but when i touched the top coil wire while cranking it bit me, and the bottom one didn't.

76 was the last year for points on the 25 I think. Might be time to get a manual and a flywheel puller and service them.
The points fire the coils.

NAPA carries the coils. They are easy to change since they are mounted on the heads. Your top coil may be bad by your description of the problem. The coil assembly has the plug wire attached.

i have a old evinrude 1976 25hp and the cranckshaft is broken, i fix end i lost the position of flywheel, i need help photo of the cranck where i see
the fly position.

Pw4wt,
You should start your own thread so everyone can check in. I wish I could help but I'm unsure how. Did you say that you broke a crankshaft and fixed it? How did you fix it? The crankshaft should have a woodruff key slot for the key to go on. THe flywheel goes on that key and automatically locates the flywheel correctly to that the timing is perfect. I'm unclear how you could have fixed it and not have the keyway. Did you have the crankshaft top welded and machined down and lost the flywheel key position? If so, you'll need some specs on the crank that I don't know where to find.
