2 questions! What kind of boats are these? Is this water skiing?

When I lived in Alaska for 16 years we had to make do with what we had. With 8 months of winter a year people in Alaska adapt to things and I was wondering what type of boats are these?

And do you consider this water skiing? The water is frozen and there is a skier behind the boat! (please see above photo for description of boat)

Yes they have MBS,these are there second boats,they have to make do with what they got!!John

experimental type......

compaines like bombardier and yamaha are experimenting with different type of drive....no, not the alpha or bravo.....not a jet, or even an arneson surface drive. its a take off of the old paddelwheeler system.....with a type of hydrofoil as control surfaces....they are expecting a large following in more northern climates

It's a modified paddle wheel type drive.

I hear they havn't quite worked out the bugs when you pull up to the fuel barge with them things.:eek:

One place i use to live (Anahim Lake the home town of Carrie Price the Montreal Canadians goalie)a huge snowmobile community, would race them up the river and across the lake every summer.Its a big money event. This sport got going from guys doing open water crossing on there sleds when the lakes were not completely frozen.
