leaking oil...

I live in Michigan and it can obviously get pretty cold around here this time of year... About a month ago, we had a long extended summer with temps around 70. Motor was in the garage. Suddenly, it dropped to freezing one night. the next morning, I moved my 57' 35 Lark, indoors (down in my heated basement). I have noticed a blackish oil, maybe fuel/oil, leaking at the seam where the water pump lives... not a ton, but enough to notice. seems concentrated near bolt holes... Any advice? Normal?

Thanks

Has the motor been stored upright?
Most likely it is simply exhaust residue.Normally it would drain out the small drain holes in the lower unit.If if holes are plugged or it is stored horizontally it might accumulate and appear elsewhere.

It sounds normal. If it froze, the water will be at the very bottom of the LU and it would crack right by the skeg. Was it used recently beforehand?
