I've noticied some marinas have what look like life rings that float up and down pilings with a bow or stern line attached to eliminate the need to compensate for tidal change when tying your boat up in its slip. Are these special devices or just regular life rings? Is anyone familiar with tideminders that perfoem a similar function? What are the pros and cons between them?
Thanks

Re: tideminders

They don't look like they will float. I can call the maunfacturer on Monday. I was hoping that someone on this forum might have some first hand experience with them. I have a 6 foot tidal range where I boat so that I have to allow for a liittle more slack in my lines than I would prefer.

Re: tideminders

that answers most of my questions, they would be perfect with this application, as we get a lot of wave action, and 2 ft tide.

Thanks mickarch for the research. It looks like I have something to put in my Xmas stocking.
