I have a 50 hp merc four stroke. 1998
while engine was running the trim on the throttle handle quit working. I turned the engine off to check it out. The trim on the motor allowed me to raise & lower the engine, so when I went to restart the engine, the engine wouldn't start. (no clicks, no noise.......nothing). I was able to start the engine with the emergency pull rope in the cowling, but the key had to be turned to the accesory position (one click to the right). I would appreciate some advice on where to look before I take it to the boat shop.

Rusty,
Welcome to the board.
I would check the four fuses on the motor first if you don't find anything there pm me. I have a trouble shooting Guide I will e mail to you.

Thanks. I am away from home for a few days, but will check the fuses when I get back.
