I'm new to this forum and as a boat owner in general. The bellows on my boat has to be replaced. The boat has been sitting for a while and I am not sure if they dried up after the boat was last in the water. The holes are pretty significant so I think / hope so. Here are a few questions.

1. What other things should I check while replacing the bellows?
2. Is there a big difference in quality between different bellows? If so, which ones do you recommend?

Re: SX Belows replacement

Volvo recommends after 2 years, which was fine for the 290 style bellows where were a lot thinner. Since they are the exact same thing as the old OMC Cobra bellows, and the same material and thickness as the Mercruiser, I have always recommended to my customers after 5 years. The OEM bellows is just under $50 and takes about half an hour to replace if your drive is already off.
I personally wouldn't use aftermarket parts like bellows.
