If the ID tag is missing from the motor bracket, try located a welch plug on the block. It's usually about the size of a quarter, silver in color, and on top of the block. It should have some #'s on it, either model and serial or just serial. If you get the serial # post it on here and perhaps someone can cross reference it into a model # for ya.
I had the same problem, btw.
