Identify Evinrude and Cooling Q's

Model 406B64R Serial B4246

40HP i believe, 2 stroke, twin, manual start with non toothed fly-wheel.

I would like to know year, HP, cc, what series?

Also, does it have a thermostat & a tell-tale as I think it overheats. I have removed the impeller and it look old, but ok.

Any help greatly appreciated..

Thanks for the quick reply. No match on BRP site. Do you know if this would have a thermostat?

The models in the parts catalog sites have slight variations like rope start vs. electric start or long shaft vs. short. Find the one that best matches what you have. Both linked sites above show the same models.

There is no thermostat on a '76 40hp.

I have a 1976 evinrude 55 HP. I am not sure if my water pump is working, I have been unable to find the pee hole. Does it have one and if so where. Thank for any help you can give me.
