Taking carb off and throttle cam adj?

I am getting ready to take the carb off of my 77 35hp motor, and was wondering, when I do, , if I do not mess with them, will I need to readjust any of the linkages? I have a oem manual, but for some reason the throttle cam ajustment is confusing me, and I am afraid that if I take it off, I may not get it adjusted right again. Does it mean when the marks are centered with the roller, it needs to be in the closed position? Not sure what it is talking about. Thanks.

Link and sync is not an operation that you start in the middle of the procedure and think you have it adjusted correctly. You start at the beginning and go through the entire linkage adjustment. There is no better explaination than the factory service manual.

If you don't loosen the adjustments, and all you do it pop the linkage out of the clip and then put it back, I don't think you will have to readjust anything. But, is it right now, before you work on it? If yours is like my 20 HP, there are two marks on the cam below the magneto plate. The roller should hit the cam between the two marks. Not before or after. Also, there should be an adjustment to prevent the throttle plate from going over center at WOT. I agree you should probably have a manual, but I figured mine out by trial and error and a little reading on the net.

I am not thinking about doing it in the middle of it. I am reading ahead, and seeing what all is connected to the carb, so I may know what I need to adjust if i take the carb off and clean it. If I dissconnect the linkage, will it go back to the setting I had before I take it off? The wording is getting me. It says to advance the throttle until marks on throttle cam are aligned with center of cam follower roller. Then it says "ATTHIS POINT the throttle valve must be closed and the roller touching the cam". Does the AT THIS POINT mean to close the throttle, or AT THIS POINT when the roller and and cam marks are aligned it should be closed and touching?

Rephrase mode on:

"AT THIS POINT the throttle butterfly must be closed and the roller touching the cam"

Basically, you align the roller with the mark on the cam, the butterfly should be closed, if you advance the throttle, the butterfly should start to move immediately. This the sync part, the butterfly just starts to open when the roller is centered on the cam mark.

I do have a manual, and that is where I was getting the throttle "valve". Now butterfly, makes sense. It is aligned, but not touching. SO i need to adjust it so the roller is touching right?
