I just bought a 4 hp 2 cycle Suzuki. I have not started it yet. The guy I bought it from said it ran fine 3 years ago. I looked in the sparkplug hole and saw some burning (pits) in the piston. He said it had low hours on the ten year old motor. The motor looks like it is almost new. Is the piston burning a common problem? The book says to mix the fuel 100/1. I would rather mix 50/1. Would that cause any issus other than possable spark plug fouling? It has been my experence that 50/1 is so lean that ring rusting is possable when Evinrude motors set up for a while.
