Default Installing Pontoon Carpet - Which Grade to Buy

I am gettting ready to buy carpet for my 24ft pontoon, I have looked online for the toon carpet. I went to Lowes yeterday to check out there prices, they have different type...."outdoor", "commercial" and "interior/indoor". The colors they had for the outdoor carpets weren't going to work for me, they only had Grey, black, and maroon. I noticed some carpet in the "commercial" side...great pricing.....wasn't think so I don't think it would hold water. Does anyone see this as being a bad choice and picking a tan carpet that is a "commercial" grade and not a exterior/outdoor grade? Any help would be appreciated. I think my total price with the carpet I wanted was going to be somewhere around 150.00 out the door.

it has to be exterior/outdoor grade or the UV rays will eat it in a year or 2. check ebay for marine carpet,

There are lots of on-line web sites that sell marine carpet in various grades. Depending on how you treat your 'toon and what you use it for will determine what grade you use. If you and your passengers party hardy, spill lots of adult beverages, drop fish guts, and other nasty stuff, you might want a cheaper grade and just replace it in a couple years. If you are careful, keep it clean, then buy the best grade available. It has a tighter nap, is more comfortable on bare feet and will last a very long time. Beige is a good color as it stays cooler and doesn't show stains as much as darker colors and also does not fade as fast. I believe marine carpet comes in 8 foot widths whereas commercial carpet will be 12 feet wide. This means unless you want to seam it, you will end up with lots of waste.

My boat is used for family and friends use only......my partying hard days have seemed to dwindled away. I looked online and found 20oz marine grade for around 200 and change so I am going to order it at the end of the month and replace it soon. Thanks for the help and now I get to look forward to taking EVERYTHING off the boat wooo hooooo now that sounds like some fun, if you guys get bored and wanna come help I'll fry the turkey and supply the beer.

Keep a couple extra pieces to put down in high traffic areas (console foot rest, entry ways, etc.).

I will keep you updated, since my toon is 24ft I can not be brought back to my house because I live mid way up a mtn so it is at my brother in laws house. So I am just buying my supplies now to have on hand come early spring. The first warm weather day we get I will be taking everything off, rails, seats and anything else that needs to come off to get this started and finished hopefully in one day. Thanks for the ideas and help and I will keep you updated!
