Trolling motor transducer mount - older Minn Kota

Would like to mount a transducer on my TM trolling motor. It's the older style mount, where the tm shaft slides through a collar on the motor bracket. Any ideas for running the wires for this? All I can think of is to have an unsecured wire from the tm foot to the fish finder unit. Not very slick. I could also use one of those portable transducer brackets, but also not slick.

Any ideas out there?
