finally puked my 3.0 three weeks ago. Oil in base, salt water, "nice milk-shake". Immediately flushed motor, and fogged cylinders, drained pan. Only been in salt water for 5 years, prior was a "lake boat"

Upon immediate dis-assembly, either head gasket or manifold. Otherwise totally salvageable.

#2 hole, all ports on head and manifold are rusty, piston burned at ring-lands, indicitive of water-too lean-combustion. (we drove it home w/reduced power)

The problem is this:
Upon dis-assemble I found a broken tooth on the ring gear. Obviously it "hydralic'ed" we didn't notice it, so I'm concerned about a bent connecting rod.
Mercruiser rods are $150 ea. yikes.

I have been told these are standard Chevy small block 5.70 "pink rods". Which I have access to.

Can someone confirm this please?
I cann't seem to find any cross-reference.
