have 1963 40 hp rdsl25d electric start. the woodruff key for this model is it special made are standard production? what size is it? this is the flywheel key.thank you kindly sambaylor.

I think its part number 0307480...but may have been superceeded to another number,

Sam, Those are standard woodruff keys. Anyone that will fit will work. The flywheel nut must be tightened properly or they will shear everytime. I believe teh correct torque is 95 ft lbs, but you should verify

They are a special size and the flywheel and crank tapers must be clean and dry and the nut torqued to 100-105 ft/lbs, using a torque wrench.

Failing to do that will shear the key and often destroy the tapers and keyways. When that happens, it is all over.
