Re: oil mixture for 1940 evinrude
I once had the starter go out on a 90hp Mariner when I knew much less about boats than I do now. I was out on the water. We tried everything. jumping the solenoid, cleaning wires, everything. I knew there was a pull start rope in a bag inside the cowling. I get the thing out and toss the directions to the side. Wrap it around a give it a rip and nearly pull my shoulder out. Again, I try it. ouch. This must be impossible. Again, same result. My buddy said to me "try turning the key to on position". It made it easier to pull and started right up. I never thought to trouble shoot because I new the big motor would probably be difficult to turn anyway. Just a bit off topic but since the orig issues is resolved it will do no harm and it was kinda funny. It was a little humbling.
