Wiring for fish finder

Have an 89 skeeter bass boat 110 johnson.Fish finder was wired into starter switch when i got it,,found out the hard way this is a no no,where is the best place to run power for it.

If it's a bass boat, you may already have an open switch or place on your fuse panel for your graph. Most boats have a separate hot/ground from the battery just for accessories that runs to either a dedicated fuse panel or switch panel with circuit breakers. That's where it should go. Don't forget your inline fuse for the graph.

Really shouldn't make any difference where you connect it into a power supply as long as there is an in-line fuse with the correct size fuse between the supply and the unit. You could even connect it directly to the battery. But the main thing is to be sure it is fused correctly.
