Re: How to change an Impeller on a Old Evinrude
There is a small plate on the side of the exhaust tower held on by two screws. Remove it. Inside you will see the shift rod connected with a union. Remove the lower screw/bolt of the union. Remove the 4 bolts holding the lower unit to the exhaust tower. Pull straight down on the lower unit to separate it. The impeller is located in a housing at the base of the driveshaft. I believe it has three screws holding it down. Remove the housing and replace the impeller. Installion is the reverse. Replace the o-ring that sits on top of the driveshaft before reassembly.
