Default 9.8 hp Mercury Kiekhaefer 110 Lightning. Prop hub 6 spline NLA

Hi, I have a 1962 9.8 Hp mercury 110 lightning (SN 1546962) that has a 6 spline propeller shaft and I need to upgrade to a 8 spline propeller shaft, because the 6 spline hub inserts for the propeller are no longer available. Has any one had this problem and how can I get past this nightmare? It has 120 lbs. of compression in both cylinders and runs great... I would hate to see a good motor put in the junk pile. Do I have any options? Thanks, Ron.

Ayuh,....

Well Ron,...
Only because this is falling down the main page,.... I'll give ya a Bump,+ an Idea....

What you've got is more of a "Getting 1 more lap out an old Merc." question,...
Much more so than a Prop question....

I'd suggest that you try this question over in the Mercruy Outboard forum....
I'd think you're more apt to find the Right Talents over there....

Good Luck,....

Maybe the powerhead can be bolted to a newer midsection/ lower unit,..?? Donno...

You might try Johns Old Mercury web site.May be possible to just change the prop shaft.
