I have a 1978 35 hp Evinrude that was running fine then lost power when I restarted it. It seemed to be blowing brownish color smoke instead of the normal bluish/grey. It just didn't sound right then stalled stranding me on the Ohio River. I replaced the fuel lines from the fuel pump and it seems to be flowing fuel fine. I have good spark on new plugs. I noticed that I can get it to start and it runs pretty good after a lot of cranking. I have trouble with the water thing hooked to the hose fitting snuggly to the lower unit so I have to hold it manually. When water starts pumping well and comes out the exhaust and a stream of water is flowing from the outlet the motor starts loosing rpm fast. I really boggs down and the motor dies in a few seconds. Is this a bad head gasket or something alowing water into the compression chamber? I would really appreciate any advice you all may have. I thank you in advance for taking time to consider my problem. Rich
