Just bought a '84 8hp Long Shaft and have a tank and hose from Mercury thought I would just change the engine adapter on the fuel hose, but I've purchase the "Johnson/Evinrude" adapter from my local west bay marine and it just doesn't quite fit... (well it fits OK and I think it will seal but I can't get it to push on all the way for the latch to catch). seems like maybe the guide that goes along side the adapter is getting in the way. I've purchased two seperate adapters just to make sure there wasn't mis-packaging or something. Anyone got an idea?
