I recently purchased used 84 johnson 115. Took it out saturday for first time and once on a plane, overheat alarm sounded. At time i didnt know what warning was for so i idled the boat home. After doing some research know its overheat warning. The pee stream was coming out and i felt stream after alarm came on and water was cold coming out. So i'm thinking i'll start with thermostats and deflectors and head gaskets. But i'm not sure what all gaskets i will need to replace these parts. Also is there a recommendation for a good repair manual. This is my first experience with boat engines but ive wrenched on cars most of my life. Any help or recommendations greatly appreciated

Thanks, i'll probably go ahead and do the impeller or maybe complete pump at the same time. Also, how many deflectors will i need? Trying to get a parts list together so i can order everything at once as well as a manual.
