Prop Question

I now own my first boat. I am having trouble recently getting my boat on top of the water. Once there it runs well. Someone suggested the prop may need to be replaced. It doesn't seem to have any damage but I'm no expert. So how often should a prop be replaced in order to maintain top performance?

Re: Prop Question

While props do need replacement from wear and tear time varies with the conditions the prop runs in.If the prop still has a crisp edge with little paint wear its probably ok.If the edges seem blunted uneven and worn it may need replacement. Also if diameter is less than the numbers indicate.
diameter X pitch. shown as _ _ X _ _ . On a 3 blade measure from center of hub to tip of blade. If you give us your details we could tell better where your at. present max rpm and speed, prop size (usually on the barrel of the prop or under the prop nut.May only have a part number.Describe your boat and motor.power trim and tilt? do you trim in(prop closer to the boat)when trying to plane?
