I bout a boat and motor a couple of weeks ago ,the boat is great, but need parts for the motor Serial# 7017396, while this # implies 79-86, it has points and condensor ,not electronic, I'm woundering if it was build from older stock , motor block and coils are Kiekhgefer. any help TIA...Turbine

Thats the serial number off a 1973 Canadain built Mercury

Thanks Laddies, sorry ,it does say Toronto .Ontario beside the serial#, build in the US or Can. do you think parts for a 73 merc. will be the same? I need points and condensor and a H2O pump for now , who knows where it will stop, but it has great compression so I'll move forward , if I can find the parts. Thanks again. ....Turbine

Yes, the parts will be the same, as long as the parts book and serial number are the same.
