I've got a 1992 Johnson 150 that I have had two people attempt to repair. One was a Johnson dealer. The problem I was having was the engine going dead at idle speed but now it is starving for fuel at full speed. If you pump blub, it will pick up and go. Do I need to change my VRO pump? I don't use the oil injection. I mix oil & gas in the tank. Any way around the high price of a VRO pump?

Thanks very much,
Gary

You may need a new pump, or you may need to clean the pulse limiter, which is blue ang gold and connects to the fuel pump from the engine. Use harware store isopropyl alchohol to clean it out, then make sure that all of the fuel pump lines are air tight.

If that does not help, you can rebuild the gasoline side of the VRO pump with a kit, which will allow you to keep the premix flowing. Check here and scroll down to the word ALL in Red. http://maxrules.com/fixomcvro.html
