johnson oil injection

i have recently bought a 'new' boat with a 1998 40 johnson 2 stroke and so far it has run great. i've been told that on these engines the oil injection is prone to fail and cause serious damage. anyone know anything about this? what does it cost and what all is involved in disconnecting oil inj.

It was the early 80s VRO systems that were prone to failure, cleve. The later systems are quite reliable.
