Default yamaha 25 msh choke problem

Rodbolt since you are the Yamaha guru here I am asking for your opinion on this.

I have a 25 msh yamaha engine that doesn't like starting cold. Starts & runs great no problems other than cold starting. It seems that the choke plates are not being closed all the way when the choke knob is pulled out. As per yamaha rta ,I replaced the entire assembly ( all links, bushings and knob). Still has same problem. The bottom carb has two parts one which the link between both carbs attaches and the other is where the choke knob link attaches. The choke knob link will not travel far enough to completely close the choke plates. when choked all the way I have a very noticeable gap in the plates.

I would very much appreciate your opinion on this. It is also the second 25 msh to have this problem. Thanks

Default Re: yamaha 25 msh choke problem

Well 5 days ,and 32 views of this thread later not one single person has had any suggestion or advice as to this problem. Maybe I am wrong in expecting someone else to have an opinion on this problem or in having seen it occur somewhere else but thats what I thought this forum was for , advice and opinions. The last Yamaha RTA I spoke with had no clue what I was talking about I think the picture is pretty clear as to the parts involved.

I am a factory trained tech and I don't just throw parts at something or try to "guess" what the problem is. I like to make the repairs properly and correct which is why I also asked for opinions and/or advice about this.

I found this problem on this engine in under ten minutes and I could very easily fix this problem simply by bending a part but that's not how I was taught and that's not how I want to repair it. I'd like input from others.

I used to really enjoy this site because I actually learned a few things to make my job and the repairs I make better for me and more importantly the customer.

So it is with regret that I am no longer going to frequent this forum.

Boatguy......I feel your frustration with the lack of response. I'm not a Tech. and don't have a Yamaha so I can't help. I respect your desire to do the job the right way. Give the experts on this board a little more time. The delay may be a result of the holidays.
