Hi All
New to the form and boating world. Purchased a 2000 sea ray with the 3.0 L. Looking at the manual under fuel pump sight tube inspection. It says if I see fuel in that tube I should have the pump replaced!!
I think I have noticed fuel in that tube all summer. Boat seams to run okay. But it does run on some times after I turn off the key.
Any help on this?
Thanks

Re: Fuel Pump Sight Tube on 3.0 L

Marine fuel pumps are dual diaphragm, so if one diaphragm should rupture, the other will stop fuel getting into the sump and you having the first boat on the moon...

The green tube comes from between the diaphragms, so if you see fuel in it, it means that the top diaphragm has gone... Time for a new pump... The fuel in the tube should run into the top of the carb and flood the engine out, so it will not run and potentially go 'bang'...

if you got fuel in the yellowish/greenish tube then it's time for a new fuel pump....
