VRO question

I recently acquired a 1991 40 hp VRO in excellent condition. I cannot find an owners manual yet so I am relying on the good folks here at I-boats for some info. I have read all the VRO history here, but was wondering if the primer bulb on the VRO tank hose should be pumped up before starting like the fuel hose? Is it just pumped initially to start, or every time you start?
Thanks for the help as always..

Re: VRO question

It's a good general practice to give it a squeeze after the boat has been sitting for a while.

It should remain firm for extended periods.

Oil bulb's are like fuel bulb's, the fluid is pulled thru, not pushed thru, the bulb will not stay hard. Giving the bulb a squeeze certainly would be good insurance.

Re: VRO question

The oil bulb on my '89 40hp must have a great check valve in it, it hardly budges when squeezed even after a couple of weeks. I squeeze it anyway. The fuel bulb always takes a good squeeze after sitting.
