i have a late 80s chevy in my boat and the alterntor went on me. the old one had 2 perminant wires in a black rubber fitting. the new one has the same rubber fitting but no wires and says do nto remove. i heard these wires go to the key swith. do i need them? the alternator seems to charge without. i ws just wondering what exactly they do. thanks.
