1987 Mercruiser 5.7l 350. Alpha One Sterndrive. One question about the bolts at the back of the engine for removal - the two at the back near the bell housing. The manual states there are elastic nuts at the bottom. What are those? Do they need to be held by a socket to remove the bolts. Thanks Roman

They're Nylon Self Locking Nuts,... Ny-locks....

No wrench need,... They're in a captive slot...
That's 1 of the Why's that's about pulling the motor Straight up,+ sitting it Straight down...

You have already pulled the drive,.. Right,..??

Re: Engine removal Bolt and Nut Question

Bondo,
The drive is out, the only thing left are the two bolts in the back. All connections neatly put aside and marked. Will I need to replace the ny-locks or can I reuse what I have? Thanks Roman
Hopefully, the engine, both out and the new one in, will go straight out.
Thanks again!
