Boat and I/O Horsepower limits

How are these calculated, how do I know if I can put a larger engine in my boat should the current powerplant decide to stop performing?

Contact the manufacturer. Some hulls have a placard with maximum hp rating. Have you looked?

That max hp tag is usually only found on OB powered boats. However, the manufacturer will have a max recomended power rating for every hull that they manufacturer.
