Hi all I have a quick question. I have an 83 Johnson 115. I need to change the outer prop shaft oil seals, they developed a leak. Can they be changed without disassembling the entire lower unit?

Re: Lower unit seal

Yes You Can, But it is generaly a band aid. Get a manual its worth it. if you do just the outer seals keep an eye on your oil leval and condition

Re: Lower unit seal

Thanks for your input Freezzman. Well I do Have a SeaLoc manual but as usual for that publication they are not very clear on the procedure. Perhaps I should rephrase my question and ask does anyone have any experience with removing these seals without doing a total tear down of a good working unit ( as a side note the unit was rebuilt 3 months ago by a reputable repair shop). If you do could you give me a hint on the best way to get the 2 outer seals out.
