I am purchasing the above mentioned skiff, and am installing a transom jack with the out board swap from 150 to 50 4 stroke. Mandatory to run the a 50hp or less on the river I am on. I intend to use the skiff mainly in the fall/winter for access to the lake which is commonly very rough this time of year. I wanted a shallow draft to get up river in low water conditions, but needed a durable hull, and a widsheild to get out of the freezing spray.
My question is, would it be any benifit to add an extension such as the 5-10 inch brackets that CMC sells with their jack plates? I am curious if this would help with cavitation, and perhaps a small improvement in ride?
