Re: The front fell off

I saw that live....these 2 jokers have a few minutes on our ABC TV, once a week, after the news.

Every New Zealander, between the ages of 35 and 99, know the bald headed one, John Clark, playing the polititian, as FRED DAGG.

I don't think he is actually a comedian....more a good actor, producer, writer, cameraman.

Started as a young man doing skits for TV.

He dressed as a typical farmer.....gumboots to the knee, long kakhi shorts (probably WII vintage) and a black woolen singlet (probably the weight of your winter bush shirts) and a felt broad-brimned hat.
Every farmer wore that.

He had a family of 7 boys, all called "Trev", and all dressed the same.
He set the scene in Taihape (probably 40m from us in Marton) and every week we enjoyed his 'skit' on TV.

It was identical to the one you just watched.
He hasn't changed....well, he now dresses in a suit and has lost his hair.
He is exceptionally quick witted and dry.
He does not write his scripts....never has....in the one you saw, the 2 of them discuss the topic first, and just go for it....the show is a 'one-take' affair.

Many yrs back, in Taihape, he discussed in a skit a "gumboot throwing competition" and the idea took-off. I believe to this day, it is a major annual event people travel great distances to attend.

You could sit that guy down, tell him he is President Bush, and interview him. He would have you wetting your pants with laughter. No props, no change in accent, all verbal and facial expressions.

Cheers
Phillip
