Help! my last inquiry was re suitable compression on 1974 2 h.p evinrude..did a test and it is 100 lbs. I have spark but not sure strength. Will not fire even when fuel is put into cylinder??? I am going to check spark strength (not quite sure how to do this). Please advise. If not good I will pull flywheel and check coil etc. I will have to borrow a puller. Can you also give the size of bolt (diameter, thread, length, hardness) I will need for this task.
i believe it is 1/4 20 grade 8 hardened. ace hardware usually has them. you screw them into the flywheel 7/16 of an inch. you need harmonic balancer puller. also when reinstalling, shaft and flywheel clean and oil free, and torque to recommended specs. which i do not have.

found the torque in a manual, Flywheel nut, 264-300 inch lbs. to convert inch-lbs to foot lbs you divide by 12, 300 inch lbs = 25 ftlbs. so your torque will be 22-25 ftlbs.
