Default Minn Kota prop removal ?

Dumb question guys. I have a minn kota 3hp trolling motor that I want to remove the prop on. It has a flathead screw in the middle, with a plastic wing nut around it. My questions are, is the a normal screw or counter clockwise screw, meaning is it clockwise to loosen it? And the second question is, do I loosen the screw first, then the wing nut, or not? Thanks..

You are over-thinking this. Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey just like a light bulb. The screw slot is actually in the end of the prop shaft and is not a screw at all. Hold the prop in one hand and remove the screw. The slot is in the shaft so in the event you sheared the prop drive pin, the shaft would spin inside the prop would it not? In that case you hold the shaft with a flat blade screwdriver while you remove the wing nut. This is not an issue for installation since you would be using the shear pin so you can hold the prop and the shaft won't spin.
