hi, this is my first post,dont know if im even in the right forum, so if i'm lost please let me know. I have a 50hp merc, 4 cyl 2 stroke, im guessing around mid 80's(im not shure its dark) Here's the problem, while trying to start yesterday, the motor turned over about 15 times and when i pushed the key in to choke it......nothing. Now, it won't do anything, changed batteries, whacked a couple of things in there, and still nothing--- wont turn over, no click when u choke it...nothing. I just spent about 800.00 on this boat anchor. Is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction......what do i check first? and how? it has a new ignition box on it, if thats any help. Is there anything on the controls assembly that might cause this problem, or does it sound like starter problems.?? any guidance would be appreciated
