Ok got a good no cracked 120 merc block.
Took off the oil pan, its full of holes in the garbage it went.
Took off the oil pump, in the garbage it went.
Just ordered a overhaul gasket set, has every gasket for a 2.5l from 65'-85'.
Now i plan on pulling my motor from the boat setting it side bye side and just leaving in the pistons put everything from my motor into the new used block.
My motor runs good. Just a stripped out head bolt hole with a 45 degree crack in the corner.
What i wash out the block with that i just got?
Rust not to bad but i want it clean.
And this rebuild can't start for 2 weeks cause of other stuff going on here and i don't want a divorce.
What other tricks, tips you people who have done this recently can give me.
My last rebuild was more than 30 years ago.
