Hi just got my second boat and second outboard. This is I believe from 1996 it is model number e8reds.

I started it and it runs, but the throttle control just slides right off, I don't know if it's missing parts or not. But I don't really understand how it works.

Underneath the`plastic hand piece there is a light coloured plastic piece and nothing turns. Only thing is inside this through a slit on top and bottom there is a metal T shaped prong that with some force slide back and forth. I'm thinking maybe somehow the handpiece, with a piece I'm missing attaches to this and when you turn the handpiece clockwise it slide the piece back and forth.

Any help is appreciated, I know I am not giving much information. I do have to move my boat soon. Is there a way I can operate the engine until I fix the handpice? Thanks so much.

Guidepin, helix twistgrip and roller helix. It's missing all those parts. THanks for the diagram perfect.

Now that I see that, is it possible to motor around until I get those?
