I have a 2002 3.0L Mercruiser with an Alpha 1 Leg, When I go to engage into gear the interupter switch is not moving enough to drop RPM.Causing the gearbox to clunk into gear.Is there a manual available for these units as i am new to boat ownership, any help appreciated.
Cheers Vic

Shift interrupter DOES NOT operate when shifting INTO gear, only when coming out of gear (either forward or reverse). The hard clunk you are feeling is normal.... As long as the engine idle speed is correct, it's working properly....

Below is a link to the manual, but, as Chris said the switch is NOT used for going into gear.
Since the shift mechanism is a dog type clutch, and the engine is turning at 700 ro less rpm, there WILL be a clunk as it goes into gear. Be sure to shift quick enough that there is only one clunk and not a lot of ratcheting as it goes in gear.
