Ok, all or most all of the oil leaked out of my cylinder due to a broken fill plug. Now i read the service manual on how to bleed it and it doesn't help much. The only way i can get the motor to go up is by lifting it after i open the manual release valve which i think just lets air in. It will go down when the trim button is pushed but not up. It has a single lift cylinder with the resevoir/motor attached. Does anyone know how to bleed this type of cylinder. Thanks in advance.
Usually you tilt 'em up and let the air bubble out.
On your model, I would leave the manual release set for automatic, and lift the motor by hand, while runing the PTT. Use the manual latch to hold it in the full tilt position, and fill it with trans fluid. Let it set a few minutes, and then cycle it down and up, helping it if necessary. Latch it up and refill. Now let it sit a few minutes and repeat until no more fluid can fit in the resevoir.
I've been doing what you said and the motor still goes down slow and sometimes jerky. But it won't go up at all by itself. I have to pull up on it a fair amount all the way to the full up position. Does it just take a lot of this cycle to get all the air out? Or am I missing something?
It can take some time for the air to bubble out. Leave it all the way up for an hour or so, then refill it, run it down and then up and let it sit an hour again. See if that eventually gets it.
I've attempted this numerous times now and I don't seem to be getting anywhere. The motor still goes down slow and won't go up at all on it's own. When I push the button to raise it up it sounds really different than when it's going down. The trim motor is running when the up button is held. It just sounds funny and won't move.
