I am trying to set the timing on my 1993 Bayliner Capri 1850 & have ran into a problem. The timing marks are blocked by the motor mount bracket. All I can see is 4 BTDC and up. How do I time it to 1BTDC if I cannot see that mark ?? Anyone else had this problem ?? Thanks

I think you can use a dial back timing gun and set the dial on it to 3 degrees, then using the gun's strobe set the distributor where the mark is on the 4BTDC mark that you can see. The timing gun will be reading 3 degrees ahead of where the mark really is.

Unfortunately my timing light does not have this function ?? Why would they put the motor mount over the darn timing tab anyways.... typical GM engineers hahahaha

Not GM's fault, that's a Mercruiser motor mount on front, and whatever boat manufacturer that put the engine compartment around the motor so you can't see to time it.
You have 2 choices, get an advance timing light, or don't time it.
See you next year for your reply.
