OMC, no reverse

Hey this is my first post here so I'll try to give as many details as possible.

Specs on the boat:

OMC Cobra Stern Drive
4 Cyl. 2.3L Ford Engine


The problem I'm having is I have no reverse on the boat. I changed the interuptor switch and Overstroke switch last year and that fixed my problem. But, this year I have no reverse again. I have the repair manual and did all the testing on the micro switches, and they appear to be working properly. The cables all seem to be good too.

My question is what does the ESA module do? If it is related to my problem, how do I test it? I noticed it is wired into the microswitches so it must do something with it.

Another question is my speedometer is not working either? Can this have something to do with my current problem? Besides that, the boat is running good with no performance issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to give you guys as much info as possible to help you diagnose it.
