I have a pontoon boat with a 1998 50hp Johnson outboard. Last weekend, while on the lake, I shifted into reverse and the boat got stuck there. I took the cable loose and tried shifting by hand, and was able to get it to neutral but not forward. I don't have the boat here right now, as it's still at the lake, but I would like to know what might be wrong with it, so that we can work on it when we return in a couple of weeks.
