I bought an Johnson Sea Horse model TD20 serial number 585213 from a yard sale and would like to get some information on it. Does anyone know:
year and horsepower of motor, operating instruction (choke, air fuel adjustment, etc.) and finally any tune-up specs (air/fuel ration, oil and gear lube, spark plug, points). Thanks for any help I can get. Mike

Re: Need Johnson Sea Horse TD Information

585213 was built in 1947

Fuel mix is 16:1. That's 1/2 pint per gallon
High speed adjustment is the round knob on the tank. Begin with it open around a turn
Slow speed adjustment is the little needle with angle head on the front of the crankcase. Begin with it open 5/8 turn. It is very sensetive.
No choke. You press the high speed knob down about four times to prime it. Once it starts, run it wide open and adjust the knob for best running. Slow down to idle and do the same with the slow speed needle. It has to be on a boat in the water to get it right.

Water pump indicator is a little hole drilled in the copper water tube elbow. Should squirt at all speeds, including slow idle. If it doesn't, the water pump in behind (forward of) the propeller.
