I have a 1989 regal sebring 195xl with a 4.3L I/O Merc. Driving it for about three to five minutes it blows the ignition breaker and dies. After turning the key off you can reset the breaker, however as soon as you turn the key to the on position ( not the start position) the breaker will trip. After it sits for a couple hours it will start and do the same thing? Suggestions on where I shoudl start.
It has a mechanical fuel pump, and a friend said could be the alternator getting hot and shorting?
any help would be great!
