I found a place online that is selling a rebuild kit for my 70hp Chrysler. I was thinking it would make a good winter project. I am familiar with doing rebuilds in my work as a mechanic but I have never tackled a boat motor.
Is the machining needed on an outboard powerhead typical of other engines? (cylinder bore, align bore, ect.) Am I going to have to find a machine shop specialized in outboards?
The engine runs pretty good. It needs to be re-sealed and it has one cylinder (top) that shows a little lower compression.
What typically wears worst in these engines?
