replacing a mercruiser 2.5 140 with 3.0 140

Hi all,

My 1978 2.5L 140 has a cracked cylinder in the block. I have found a 3.0L 140 complete block and head.

Will the 3.0 mount to the stern drive and will the 2.5 parts fit on the 3.0? (fuel pump, distributer, manifold, engine mount ex)

Any help is appreciated!

What year the new motor?

The 2.5 is 120 hp the 3.0 is 140hp.

I think if the new motor is 1989 and before no problem.Maybe flywheel different but i know after 1990 it will be different.

Ether way take what you need off the old motor.
