I have a 1956 Evinrude 7.5 which runs well at low to moderate speeds, but runs rough (or stalls out completely) at high speeds.

It has new plugs and a new in-line fuel filter. The fuel tank is the old pressurize model, so I don't think there's a fuel filter.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Just guessing, but assuming the spark and compression are OK on both cylinders, I would suspect the high speed jet in the carb is clogged

Could be as simple as properly adjusting the high speed needle valve. Search for Joe Reeves' post on adjusting the needles....

The original fuel filter is located in a glass bowl on the bottom of the carb.
