Remote Control Wiring Help

I have a 1975 Johnson 115 Model# 115ETL75E on the Single handle Remote Control you have the wiring harness to the motor with the plug on the end I am sure where it goes, but coming out of the side of the remote control there are 3 wires red, black, and white I need to know what these wires are for.

Somebody put them there, it didn't come from the factory that way. Did somebody have a tachometer hooked up to it at some time? We would have to know what those wires are connected to inside the control to be sure.

Yes it had a tach and also a temp gage, but there was a tan wire ran outside of the harness for the temp. gage. I think the red went to some of the gages and the black was ground, but don?t know what the white was for. The tach in the boat I took the motor off of was not working.

If these are something someone has added I shouldn't have to hook them up to get this motor going on the boat I put it on correct?
